Porchlight Ideation, Lens Pass, and the Fit Check That Parked It

July 9, 2026

A neighborhood-connection idea got shaped through two new ideation tools (Lens Pass, Lived-Memory Lens), then parked when Zeb caught that his own street doesn't have the problem it solves.

Timeline

Start
Raw idea
Zeb brings a neighborhood-connection product idea, shaped externally with GPT before arriving
Mid
Screen contradiction caught
Zeb questions whether SMS/push notifications contradict a 'get people off screens' mission — Claude's pushback becomes the sharper insight
Mid
Lens Pass + Lived-Memory Lens named
GPT's 10-lens rotation and 'temporary memory packet' idea get pressure-tested against the existing Crucible mechanism and given distinct names
Late
MVP shaped for Zeb's street
Full Porchlight MVP scoped: hybrid intake, four boards, weekly bulletin + midweek nudge
End
Fit check reverses the pilot
Zeb names his street's real shape (24 houses, 2-acre lots, 15+ yr tenure, established cliques) — Porchlight parked, not built

What shipped

No product code shipped — this was a review/planning session (ideation + OS documentation only)

Lens Pass — a new internal, diagnostic ideation tool (10-lens catalog) documented in ignition.md §1.55

Lived-Memory Lens — a new internal ideation tool (synthetic lived-experience pressure test) documented in ignition.md §1.56

Two Strikes and two Anvils captured and written to the journal

Porchlight MVP fully shaped (screens, data model, build order) — held, not built, pending a better-fit pilot location

I think I'm starting to wonder if this would really change much on my street.

Zeb, catching that his street's 15+ year established equilibrium may not have the gap Porchlight is designed to fill
